Introducing our Principal Lawyer Peta Preston
Peta’s unique approach and expertise in the areas of family law and criminal law stems from her vast experience both as a lawyer, and as an advocate for individuals involved in the justice system.
From a young age, Peta has worked alongside people in the legal system as well as alongside people experiencing disadvantage. Peta has always been driven to assist people move beyond difficult circumstances.
Whilst studying law Peta started working with a human rights organisation assisting women in prison in Queensland. This provided Peta with valuable insight into the workings of Queensland’s criminal justice system.
Prior to being admitted as a Lawyer, Peta also worked in various roles in the human services sector, including services for the homeless, youth support services and domestic violence services.
Peta’s background ensures she adopts a holistic approach to legal issues. Her understanding of complex social issues and how such matters interact with the legal system is a distinguishing feature of her professional approach.
Peta has practiced exclusively in the areas of family and criminal law since her admission, and is well regarded as a solution focused and cooperative practitioner.
Peta brings to the practice of law a wealth of knowledge and experience in supporting people during challenging times.
Peta’s expertise expands across a breadth of matters, from property settlement matters, parenting matters, surrogacy matters, international parenting matters, domestic violence matters, to a variety of criminal law matters.
Peta is passionate about offering people a unique experience whilst resolving their legal matters. Peta ensures clients are fully informed of their rights and options, to assist clients to reach the best possible outcome.
Peta promotes cooperative and alternative dispute resolution processes to resolve disputes. Notwithstanding this preferred approach, Peta has vast experience appearing in the Federal Circuit Court, Family Court, District Court and Magistrates Courts.
